Travel
#1 - Get Your Passport!
A US passport costs $165, which can take up to 13 weeks but can come sooner.
The United States passport is ranked 6th globally, and visa-free travel to 143 destinations worldwide.
#2 - Research Your Destination

#3 - Get Your Finances Together
You may go to a country where the cost of living is less than the US, and you can still blow your money. Don't be that guy. Build a budget based on where you are going and have a steady income coming in.
#4 - Buy Your Airplane Tickets
If you know when you want to return, buy a 2-way ticket in advance so if you are in a tight spot with your money, you can get back home. The earlier you buy, the prices are lower. Consider getting travel insurance, in case.
#5 - Travel Insurance
I mentioned Travel Insurance in the previous post. A policy can cover trip cancellation or interruption, baggage and personal effect coverage, rental property, rental car coverage, medical coverage, and accidental death coverage.
#6 - Make Connections
You can go it on your own. Start networking before you go and when you get there. Having a network of people who can tell you information not easily known can save you time and money. Don't buy a $700 course!
#7 - Language Barriers
Learn key phrases of the country you are going to in advance and download translation apps. When you are in the country, you can hire a local to teach you 2~3 days a week for 1 hour of their language and consider attending language exchange events.
#8 - Clothing & Accessories
Have attire that doesn't draw unnecessary attention to yourself. You'll already stand out because of how you look & talk. Your clothes tell people other things you might not want to be non-verbally saying. Mainly depending on the country you're in.
#9 - International Driver's Permit
It's an optional thing but can be useful when going to some countries. AAA can issue you a permit that's considered valid in 150 countries globally. Now you can rent a car and drive yourself around. https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html
#10 - Money
Ensure you let your bank know you are leaving the country, find out if you can use your card overseas, and know the international card fees. Carry cash on you if you can't use your card, and use currency exchange apps to help you manage your money.
